Baymont by Wyndham Richburg/Chester Area

I started writing this review while sitting comfortably in the room. There is a nice desk style fabric covered swivel chair and a regular living room style chair, both very comfortable. There is a decent size desk. There is a hanging area with hangers for clothing as well as an iron, if needed. After spending the day walking trails of local state parks we decided to find a local hotel. Google search brought up this hotel and I read the reviews. In spite of a few of the reviews we decided to give it a try, a bit hesitantly. I’m so glad we did. We checked in and came to the room without any of our stuff, just to check it out. When we walked in it appeared very clean. I opened the dresser drawers, the refrigerator, and the microwave. All were clean with absolutely no indication of bugs. Next, the bathroom; the fan was a bit loud, but it was clean and the towels smelled fresh and clean. The sink and tub had a couple of what looked like burn marks, but they were both clean. It is obvious they have updated the room without doing a major overhaul; the carpet looks new and the TV stand/dresser is nice. There are multiple lights in this room which makes it very bright, including flexible reading lights. The refrigerator is a large dorm size and there is a nice size microwave. Both worked very well. There is also an in-room coffee maker, but we did not use that as I went to the lobby to get my coffee from the machine there. The water pressure in the shower was good, but the water wasn’t as hot as I enjoy, but hubby said it was plenty hot. (Have to admit, I like water hotter than most.) Couple of things I always appreciate in a hotel room is a bathroom night light for the middle of the night and a soft close toilet seat. Unfortunately, this room had neither of those. The light switch for the bathroom was on the outside of the door, so had to turn the light on before closing the door which disturbs anyone else in the room. As mentioned above, the bathroom fan was noisy and it came on with the light. The light around the big bathroom mirror was very bright, which is unusual for most hotel rooms and appreciated. The air conditioner worked very well. We had it on continuous fan, so the room stayed very comfortable even though we didn’t have the temperature too low. The fan wasn’t silent, but not loud either. We could listen to the TV without turning up the volume to cover it. The TV was a bit frustrating. There wasn’t a channel guide in the room, but one was delivered to us when I called to ask if there was one available for me to come get. (That was a nice touch, having it delivered.) The list gave station call names, but not ABC, NBC, CBS, etc. The guide on the TV didn’t work, so we had no idea what was on any of the channels, but a such a small inconvenience. I typically don’t watch TV so it wasn’t a big deal; I just went back to reading my book. The big window could definitely use a good washing, but we closed the curtains, so problem solved. The location is very easy to get to and even though it is close to a major road, we weren’t disturbed by road noise. The hotel had many rooms filled, but we didn’t hear any people noise throughout the night. There is coffee always available in the lobby and breakfast is offered. Today was biscuits and gravy which hubby said was pretty good and fresh waffles could be made. Yogurt, various breads, bagels, and cereals were also available. There was a juice machine too. Coffee was good and hot. There are a lot of food options within a five minute walk. All four corners had fast food places, and a great little lunch/dinner restaurant, The Front Porch (high recommend), across the street and an omelette place across the street, down a bit, all very walkable. We are on a two-week state park trip and this is our sixth hotel room in the past 10 days and this one ranks as number two. Number one cost us almost twice as much. I very much appreciate the value of this hotel. On our next trip to the area we will stay here again. I definitely recommend this hotel. 4.5/5

Ken did such a great job on my room. Mirror in bathroom wonderful. He was such courteous and kind and very professional. Bed was made up just perfect. Very pleased. Thank you

People here are extremely polite!! Rooms are very neat and clean and very affordable. Heading to Florida and we will definitely stay here on our way home in 2 weeks.

This was a nice place to stay for the night. We were traveling back home and was too tired to keep driving so we stopped off here for the night. Beds were comfortable, it’s right off the highway and has free breakfast. We did have noisy neighbors so the walls are a little thin but that’s my only complaint.

By far the best owners i have experienced here. I have lived here since 2013. During my 12 years I have seen the hotel change hands 3 times. The most recent owners have done a great job. They completely overhauled the hotel with new renovations and upgraded it from a super 8 to a baymont. It was a fantastic idea since the hotel was in dire need of repairs and upgrades. Management is awesome also. Bobby and Chad really go out of their way to make everyone feel comfortable here. Definitely make this place a must stay if you are in the area

Ken was excellent ! He was very attentive helpful and kept my room clean my entire stay . He vacuumed and cleaned whenever needed. Front desk was also very nice .. helpful and polite !

Ken was so helpful and the room was clean. The bathroom and mirrors were very clean. and the bed was very comfortable. Ken brought me extra coffee and was very friendly. He wanted to make sure all my needs were met. I will definitely stay again

Comfortable bed, Clean room. Nice staff. Places with old dirty paint. Room had updated mirror with lights. It was nice. Nice size refrigerator Got to breakfast 25 minutes before closing time Sausage gravy was pretty much gone, biscuits were hard. Waffle was very good. Juice machine not working. No eggs or meat. I had yogurt and a banana with waffle. Since I don't drink coffee, I went to restroom in lobby to get ewater to drink. All in all was satisfied with stay. Because room looked clean and bed was comfortable. Needs were met
